About Us

Displayed in traditional farm buildings the ‘Antique Chairs’ collection ranges from the 17th to the early 20th century.

We have a choice of over 250 items on display. From the Carolean period to the Edwardian and including the English regional chair, there is much of interest in the museum. A wide selection of dining, individual and upholstered chairs is offered for sale at competitive prices. Although we exhibit and sell predominantly chairs, we do occasionally offer quality tables for sale.

We are happy to handle international enquiries and overseas orders. Shipping and handling can be arranged if required.

At Antique Chairs & Museum, the customer always comes first.

Our History

‘Antique Chairs’ was established in 1988 by Alice and Tom Brown at Lezant, near Launceston, Cornwall and moved some four miles to its present location at Polson in 1993.

In May 1999 the business became ‘Antique Chairs & Museum’

The Museum

This is a ‘live’ museum in that nearly all of the chairs are for sale, apart from a small number that are not readily replaceable.

Services

We offer restoration and upholstery services to the highest quality. Overseas shipping and handling can be arranged if required.

An attempt has been made to portray some of the changes over the past 400 years, illustrating the development of various styles and material use, and also the movement from Elizabethan carpenter to Georgian designer.

Location

We are located near the A30 Exeter to Bodmin dual carriageway. Please follow the “brown signs” from the main road to find us.
